A box plot is a way of graphically depicting groups of numerical data through their quartiles. Box plots may also have lines extending vertically from the boxes indicating variability outside the upper and lower quartiles. Outliners may be plotted as individual points.

To launch the box plot editor, select Visualize > Box Plot from the menu. Alternatively, click the icon () in the sidebar and then add New. 

Create a Box Plot

The parameters for a box plot are defined on two tabs at the top of the page: Data and Properties.

On the Properties tab: 

  1. Select a Record set from the list.
  2. Select from the Variable list and use the arrow buttons to set variables for X and Y.

Find a Variable

Variables are listed alphabetically. To find a variable, use the scroll bar or enter the name in the search field .

On the Advanced tab:

  1. Enter a chart Title
  2. Enter Font Size, if required. 
  3. Select the Temporal units you want to use if X axis is time variable, Excel time, Mac excel time, Unix time (ms) and Unix time (s). All files uploaded since DATAmaestro 4.0 will have dates converted to Unix time (ms).
  4. Define zoom area using X axis, Y axis. Enter values for X and Y axis. If X axis is a time variable then select a date in the calendar. 
  5. Click Save to load the data.

Control the View

Use the control menu below the chart to modify the zoom, apply rulers to create new record sets. For more information, see Control Menu.

Switch X-Y

Click on Switch X-Y button  to switch x an y axis. 


Copy-Save a Box Plot

To copy or save the curve click on the curve with the right click and select Copy image or Save image as
