WINTELL platform is a web-based advanced operation monitoring and health management system developed to collect, store and analyse wind turbines O&M data in a secured and centralized environment.

The platform automatically analyses real-time data to early detect deterioration of equipment and drift of performances and allows end-users to monitor efficiently operations of assets.

The scope of the platform is to supervise optimally operations and health of wind mills..  As a result, wind turbines availability and performance will be significantly improved. Advanced machine learning algorithms (smart agents) are monitoring several hundred parameters per turbine to continuously diagnose health and operational performance of the system. As soon as abnormal situations are detected, these are reported and end-users are notified. The system provides reporting facilities and alleviates the workflow of end-users.

The key component of WINTELL in the hub that interfaces a set of software components and through dedicated services, as shown in figures below.  The platform is bundled with different modules described as follows:

  • Historian: store all time-based information available on each wind mills (from the controller, CMS systems, substation, weather conditions, etc.)
  • Advanced analysis: advanced data-mining and machine learning tools to troubleshoot windmill performance and integrity, detect in real-time drift of performance
  • CMMS: description of assets, creation of working orders and requests, planning of maintenance work.
  • Weather forecasting

The way the platform has been built allows us to easily switch from one component to another. This means that if customer has already a CMMS software, we could use this software components instead of the default one provided by the Wintell platform.

The Wintell hub is a middleware component . It integrates various databases and applications services. Communication is established between the different data sources through standardized interfaces. Monitoring data is stored in the historian DB and the asset description is stored in the CMMS database. Data used for real-time analytics is extracted from historian and temporary views of historical data are stored in the advanced analytics component.  Wind forecasting will store GIS data and meteorological data use for local wind forecasting. Forecasts will be stored in historian as monitored values.

Most of information exchanged within the portal hub is totally transparent to the end-user. Wintell expose services that are used by the Wintell portal.  This means that the portal doesn’t communicate directly with none of the platform components as services are published the hub itself.
